Spanish authorities say the death comes despite attempts to rescue and resuscitate him. The 70-year-old tourist was taking a dip on Monday at Son Bou beach, the island’s longest, on its south coast when the drama happened. Other beachgoers spotted him in difficulties and raced into the water to try to assist him while others rang 999.
