The far north-western Russian region of Murmansk has come under hostile drone attack, regional Governor Andrey Chibis reported on Telegram. Chibis said that “all three drones” had been shot down. The air traffic authorities said that Murmansk and Apatity airports had been closed temporarily for security reasons. Murmansk lies some 1,900 kilometres from the closest Ukrainian territory. Russia’s Northern Fleet is based in the region, along with its nuclear-powered icebreakers and military airbases.
