Like any first-generation product, HyperOS had its share of problems when it launched last year. Xiaomi introduced it with the aim of unifying its product lines under a single OS, which was generally successful. However, some smartphones have experienced serious bugs and performance issues.
Improved performance and extended support for older devices
In response, Xiaomi is working to address these issues in the upcoming HyperOS 2.0 update. Industry insiders report that the company is investing heavily in optimizing the operating system to provide a smoother and more responsive user experience.
According to a reliable source at Fixed Focus Digital, Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0 is expected to feature cold start optimization, lock screen bug fixes, and improved in-car connectivity. In addition, Xiaomi is reportedly expanding the compatibility of the operating system with a wider range of older devices, which will allow more users to take advantage of new features.
In this regard, the recent departure of Jin Fan, Xiaomi’s chief product officer and head of MIUI experience, for a period of seclusion, has sparked speculation about his role in the development of HyperOS 2.0. Although Xiaomi has stated that Fan’s absence is not related to the project, many industry insiders believe that his expertise is crucial to the success of the OS.
The leaked information suggests that the OS may feature a “Camera Scan” feature that uses WLAN signals to detect hidden cameras, which aims to increase user privacy. In addition, HyperOS 2.0 is expected to include advanced artificial intelligence capabilities, creating a more intelligent and user-centered ecosystem.
Although the official release date of HyperOS 2.0 has not been confirmed, it is expected to be introduced along with the Xiaomi 15 series in late October. HyperOS was first introduced in October last year in China on Xiaomi 14 smartphones, replacing MIUI, and was later rolled out to devices such as the Redmi Note 13 Pro, Poco X6 Pro, and M6 in India by early 2024.
