Volunteers at Sawbridgeworth’s historic orchard are preparing to celebrate the site’s 300th anniversary next year – and a first step was taken on Sunday when the ground was prepared for the planting of new plum trees. Events are being planned by a working group and a “productive morning” at Rivers Heritage Site and Orchard (RHSO) also saw plastic membranes replaced by more environmentally friendly woodchip around the younger trees. A plea was issued to dog walkers to clear up after their pets after dog waste was found in the orchard off The Crest.
