Hezbollah strongholds in Beirut’s southern suburbs were hit by multiple heavy airstrikes on Tuesday as Israel’s newly appointed defence minister rejected any talk of a possible ceasefire. The Israeli military said it has now destroyed most of the weapons depots and rocket production facilities that have been built up in the suburbs – including under civilian buildings – over the past two decades.
