Former President Donald Trump on Monday asked the U.S. Supreme Court to decide whether he is immune from prosecution for election interference. The move came after the Washington, D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against the defense he’s using in the 2020 election and Jan. 6 case. Trump’s attorneys asked the high court to stay an appeals court ruling that found Trump did not have immunity. “We cannot accept that the office of the Presidency places its former occupants above the law for all time thereafter,” a three-judge panel wrote.
