The Palestinian militant group Hamas on Tuesday fired missiles at Israel from Gaza for the first time since late May. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said one projectile from the Gaza Strip fell off the coast of central Israel, while the other did not cross into Israeli territory. The military wing of Hamas claimed the attack and said it was aimed at Israel’s coastal city of Tel Aviv. There were no reports of injuries, although witnesses reported hearing an explosion in Tel Aviv. The army said no sirens sounded, in accordance with protocol.
