An Atlas Air cargo plane bound for Los Angeles returned to Narita airport near Tokyo early Tuesday for an emergency landing, causing the temporary closure of a runway. The U.S. carrier’s Flight 7106 landed back at the airport at around 1:10 a.m. after detecting a malfunction in the hydraulic system. The Boeing 747 aircraft had a punctured tire, with a broken wheel. Due to the incident, Runway A at the airport was closed for about 7 hours. The transport ministry’s airport office said seven crew were onboard the cargo plane but nobody was injured.
