Hamburg’s nightlife hub was partially evacuated late on Saturday after a bomb from World War II was discovered there. Shortly after midnight (2200 GMT Saturday) the fire brigade, which had been deployed for a large-scale operation, said on social media that the bomb had been defused. Several thousand people had to evacuate their homes in the trendy Sternschanze district, while police also cleared restaurants and bars in the area.
