A malfunction at the world’s oldest nuclear power plant located in Switzerland has led to an automatic rapid shutdown, the operator said on Monday. The glitch occurred in a steam generator in the non-nuclear part of the Beznau plant, located around 30 kilometres north-east of Zurich, according to the energy company Axpo. As a result, water vapour was at times visible above the facility, but there was no danger to people or the environment, the company stressed.
