German car manufacturer Audi is laying off the majority of its temporary workers at its plant in Neckarsulm, around 60 kilometres north of Stuttgart. Several hundred people are affected, a spokeswoman said in response to an enquiry, without giving an exact number. “We continue to find ourselves in challenging times with a volatile market situation,” she said. “It is a difficult decision for us to have to let qualified and trained temporary employees go,” she added.
