At an event held today in China, Honor unveiled two foldable phones – Magic Vs 3 and Magic V3. They replace last year’s Magic Vs2 and Magic V2 models. Both devices have a new design and significantly improved specifications compared to their predecessors. They compete with the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold 6, OnePlus Open, OPPO Find N3, and others. In this article, we take a look at what Honor Magic Vs 3 offers out of the box.

Honor Magic Vs 3 specifications


Honor Magic Vs 3 features a 6.43-inch curved AMOLED display with thin bezels on the front with a resolution of 2,376 x 1,060 pixels and a peak brightness of 2,500 nits. Inside, it has the same panel measuring 7.8 inches with a resolution of 2,344 x 2,156 pixels and a maximum brightness of 1,600 nits. Both screens have an LTPO refresh rate of 120 Hz and support HDR Vivid.

The design of Honor Magic Vs 3 has a slim profile with a thickness of 9.7 mm when folded and 4.65 mm when open, making it incredibly thin, similar to a candy bar. It weighs only 229 grams. The back panel has a protruding rectangular camera island made in black and silver, which gives it a two-tone look. The fingerprint scanner is located on the side, under the power button. The foldable phone is equipped with the proprietary Luban Titanium hinge and protective steel, which provides strength and lightness.

In terms of optics, Honor Magic Vs 3 is equipped with a triple rear camera setup. They consist of a 50-megapixel main sensor with OIS support, a 40-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and an 8-megapixel periscope with 5x optical and 50x digital zoom. The main lens and periscope lens support OIS technology. The outer and inner screens have 16-megapixel and 8-megapixel sensors for selfies.

In terms of hardware, Honor Magic Vs 3 is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. It has up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The folding phone is powered by a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 66W charging and 50W wireless charging. There is also an RF signal amplifier and a security chip for stable connection and privacy protection, respectively. The device runs on MagicOS 8.0 operating system with features such as split screen and more.

Honor Magic Vs 3 is available in Qilian Snow, Tundra Green, and Velvet Black colors. The foldable phone starts at CNY 6,999 (~$963) for the 12GB + 256GB version. The 12GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB configurations cost CNY 7,699 (~$1,060) and CNY 8,699 (~$1,198), respectively. It will go on sale starting July 19.
