Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], (ANI) July 13 (ANI): Gujarat has joined the national initiative to empower girls through education, successfully transforming the lives of over eighty thousand underprivileged girls since 2004 through Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) across the state. Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas were sanctioned under the erstwhile Sarva Shikha Abhiyan (SSA) as residential schools at the upper primary level for girls belonging to disadvantaged groups such as Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Caste, Minority and Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.
