A Rotary Club has marked 20 years of its young musician contest — with a pianist named 2024’s overall winner. The Rotary Club of Newark has been sponsoring its Young Musicians of the Year contest for two decades, and this year proved to be bigger and better than ever. Club president Jim Wishart said: “We hear that schools do not have the budget or curriculum time to teach music, but we had seventy excellent contestants, aged eight to 11, in four instrument categories.” The four categories were woodwind, brass, strings, and piano.
