A GP who served his community for more than 60 years has died. Dr Peter Crookes died at King Court Care Home, Middlebeck, last week, aged 88. He worked as a GP at Lombard Surgery, Newark for over six decades, where he was known for his compassionate care and commitment to his patients. Dr Crookes was born on April 10 1935. He trained at West Minister Hospital in London where he met his wife, Hazel, as she was training to be a nurse. They had four children, James, Claire, Edward and the late Anthony.
