Ecuador’s security forces have arrested 859 suspects in a series of sting operations targeting criminal gangs, government officials said on Saturday, as authorities continue to battle against a surge in crime nationwide. Firearms, ammunition, explosives, incendiary devices, boats and vehicles were also seized, along with 25 escaped convicts, while 56 hostages were freed.
