Around 1,000 people took to the streets in the western German city of Duisburg on Saturday to protest against a New Year’s reception hosted by the right-wing populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. Demonstrators marched through the city before a planned rally near the event hall organized by the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB), among others.
