Exmatriculating students will be reintroduced in Berlin universities in certain cases following an alleged anti-Semitic attack by a student from Berlin Free University on another student. Berlin Senate spokesperson Christine Richter announced the move on Tuesday after a Senate meeting. The practice was initially abolished in 2021, which made Berlin the only federal state without the option of exmatriculating students. The Higher Education Act allowed for a maximum three-month ban.
