Honor has just launched in China the Honor Magic V Flip, its first flip-style folding phone. Honor CEO Zhao Ming recently discussed Honor’s first small folding phone, the Magic V Flip, and also commented on the previously released Honor Magic V2. He also hinted at the upcoming arrival of the Magic V3.

Honor Magic V3 will have a record-breaking design

At a post-launch meeting for the Magic V Flip, Ming revealed that the Honor Magic V3 is currently under intense development and promised that it will be an impressive and cutting-edge folding phone. He emphasized Honor’s commitment to innovation, stating that even 11 months and 20 days after the 9.9mm thickness test, the Magic V2 remains the thinnest folding phone on the market. He reaffirmed Honor’s commitment to breaking its own records, emphasizing that this is the company’s core value.

As a reminder, Honor Magic V2 was announced in July 2023. It has been recognized as the world’s thinnest folding phone, measuring just 4.7mm thick when unfolded and 9.9mm when folded. This makes it thinner than many traditional straight screen phones, marking a significant milestone in folding phone design.

Unfortunately, we don’t know anything about the Honor Magic V3’s specifications yet. However, speculation suggests that Honor Magic V3 will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Leaks that appeared a few weeks ago showed that its battery capacity could exceed 5,000 mAh, and the fingerprint scanner will be located on the side. Currently, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, which has a 5,700 mAh battery, is the largest battery seen on a folding phone. Despite the huge battery capacity, it has a slim profile of 5.2 when unfolded and 11.2 mm when folded.

As for the launch, Magic V3 is likely to debut in July in China.
