LG Electronics is introducing its advanced webOS-based automotive content platform (ACP) to the latest all-electric SUV Kia EV3 from KIA Corporation.

The integration of LG’s ACP into the recently unveiled Kia EV3 marks the first time the innovative solution has been applied to an electric vehicle. LG’s in-car entertainment platform made its debut in South Korea last year, alongside Hyundai Motor Group’s (Hyundai) Genesis GV80 and GV80 Coupe.

ACP platform based on webOS

The webOS-based ACP platform brings the home entertainment experience into the car, in line with LG’s vision of future mobility that transforms the car into a “living space on wheels.” The platform is an integral part of LG AlphaWare, LG’s software solution suite for software-defined vehicles (SDVs).

It offers the wide range of content that has made LG Smart TVs with webOS so popular with consumers around the world. Optimized for the in-car environment, LG’s ACP platform powered by webOS allows passengers to relax and enjoy their favorite content just like at home.

LG’s ACP makes commuting and traveling easier and more enjoyable by giving EV3 owners and riders access to apps from a variety of premium content providers, including Netflix, YouTube, Baby Shark World for Kids, Stingray Karaoke, Play.Works, and LG Channels.

Thanks to the close collaboration between LG and Kia, the EV3 conveniently adapts the powerful LG platform to every passenger touch, allowing them to enjoy high-quality content on the car’s built-in screens. From streaming services and social media to educational content for children, users have access to a variety of content that was previously only available on mobile devices or TVs.

Improving and expanding the platform

LG’s webOS-based entertainment system is constantly being updated and enhanced to provide seamless integration with apps such as Baby Shark World for Kids. This mobile educational app, loved by children around the world, offers more than 9,000 songs and stories designed to educate and engage young learners and is available for download from the LG Content Store on ACP.

LG’s advanced ACP now offers a content streaming experience with the newly added exclusive free LG Channels streaming service. Adapted for in-car use, LG Channels offers more than 80 channels, real-time news, and over 400 video-on-demand options, including movies, dramas, and animated series for kids – all ready to watch without complicated signups.

LG plans to expand its LG Channels in-car service (which was first launched on ACP for the Genesis GV80) with a wider selection of content coming in the near future.
