In 1845, the journey of the HMS Erebus and HMS Terror, led by Sir John Franklin, ended in devastating tragedy. Nobody knew what had happened to the 128 crew members who were searching for the Northwest Passage. Ken McGoogan, an explorer and author of six books about the Arctic, shared with the New York Times, “It was an anomaly, what happened to this expedition.
