By Paul Gallagher & Chiara Fiorillo The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has ordered the first Cold Weather Payments of 2024 with around 10,000 people set to receive £25 towards their heating bills. Forecasts of sub-zero temperatures in Cumbria, Northumberland and around the Scottish Borders have resulted in the payments being triggered in a total of 19 postcode areas. The payments will be made for the seven-day period which started yesterday, on January 12.
