The voice of Bishop’s Stortford, Town Crier Carole Williams has passed away. She had served the community since 1996 and was a familiar sight on landmark occasions and at civic events. Her interest in the role had been piqued by a newspaper story announcing the death of her male predecessor and she defied sexist stereotypes to clinch the job.
