European Council President Charles Michel said he’s “shocked” by the shooting of Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico. “I am shocked at the news of the attack on Slovakian PM Fico after a meeting of the Slovak Cabinet in Handlova,” Michel wrote on X. “Nothing can ever justify violence or such attacks,” he said. “My thoughts are with the Prime Minister and his family.” Michel chairs meetings of the European Council, which is the assembly of the 27 European Union countries’ leaders, including Fico.
