The blood transfusion team at the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) is in the top 10 nationally for patient safety. The NHS Blood and Transplant informatics team has compiled data from national comparative audits to reach that verdict. All aspects of the blood transfusion process were analysed, from sample collection and specimen receipt to processing, provision and transfusion of blood and blood components.
