A city council is set to close floodgates after a weather alert was issued for parts of Kent. Canterbury City council (CCC) is shutting the gates as tides will be higher than usual in the district. The 3am and 3pm tides tomorrow (Monday, January 15) are expected to be particularly high. And The Environment Agency has warned residents of the Isle of Sheppey and along the north Kent coast to brace themselves this afternoon, with a flood warning in place.
