Firefighters have been tackling a hay bale fire for more than 12 hours. Five fire engines were called to the Foxhounds Lane area in Southfleet at around 8.30pm, as well as a bulk water carrier. As of 9.30am this morning, crews have made good progress putting out the “large amount” of hay bales on fire. But there is still a lot of smoke coming from it. People living in the area are being advised to keep their windows and doors closed due to smoke.
