Former President Donald Trump said he would testify during his criminal trial that’s set to begin in New York on Monday, and CNN legal analyst Jeremy Saland said that would be a dream come true for prosecutors. There is ample reason to doubt that Trump will really testify, of course, given that he vowed to also testify in the New York civil fraud trial before backing out of it. That said, Saland argued that Trump could be prosecutors’ best witness should he disregard his lawyers’ advice and testify under oath at the hush-money case in the coming weeks.
