Ukrainian border guards shot dead a deserter from the country’s armed forces on Sunday evening, according to Ukrainian media reports. Border guard spokesman Andriy Demchenko told news site Ukrainska Pravda that the deserter was killed after attacking an officer. Four deserters were stopped at a checkpoint around 15 kilometres from Ukraine’s south-western border on Sunday evening.
