A climate protester was handed a fine of €3,500 ($3,800) on Thursday for hurling paint at an outer wall of the Chancellery building in Berlin two years ago. The 49-year-old man had defaced the south-east wing of the building with black paint, resembling oil, during an action organized by the climate protest group Last Generation in June 2022. A Berlin district court found him guilty of damaging property, with the presiding judge saying there was no possible justification for his action.
