A burst main saw homes in Bishop’s Stortford without water over the weekend and a major route into the town closed. The A1250 Hadham Road was closed early on Sunday (Sept 15) between its junctions with Bells Hill and Maze Green Road after the burst pipe sent a torrent of muddy water as far down as Indian restaurant Zara, on the corner with Chantry Road. Affinity Water sent a message to homes, apologising to those without water or with low pressure, and advised residents to avoid using dishwashers or washing machines until the main had been repaired.
