Donald Trump announced on Monday he has selected Republican US senator JD Vance as his running mate. The Ohio senator is the author of best-selling memoir Hillbilly Elegy, which was released as a film in 2020. The American drama film was directed by Ron Howard following a screenplay by Vanessa Taylor. It is based on Vance’s memoir of the same name, and sees Vance looking back on his childhood in Middletown, Ohio.
