A lightning strike caused a fire at a home in Rumson Borough Friday evening, police said in a statement. At around 7 p.m., firefighters received a call about a house with smoke on Harbor Drive after it had been struck by lightning. When firefighters arrived, they found a fire in the basement with a gas leak, according to officials. Sea Bright and Fair Haven fire departments and New Jersey Natural Gas were called to the scene.
