As the May elections are fast approaching, anyone without an accepted form of ID is being urged to apply online for a free one before the deadline. Voters need to show photo ID in order to get their ballot paper for the local elections on May 2. Residents can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate here by 5pm on April 24 as long as they are registered to vote and can provide their date of birth, National Insurance number and a photograph.
