The number of bank branch closures in the UK over the last nine years has hit 6,000, according to new research from Which?. Britain’s high streets have been hit by an “avalanche” of closures with million of people being in need for replacement banking services, the consumer watchdog found. Which? noted that today’s eight branch closures from Barclays took the number of banks shutting down to 6,005.
