Bishop’s Stortford Canoe Club trounced larger teams from Chelmsford and Norwich to achieve a memorable win at their home race on the River Stort. The victory was all the more impressive because, as hosts, Stortford’s racers had to perform double duties as marshals, safety staff and even serving refreshments. A total of 135 competitors took part in what was the fifth and penultimate race of the Eastern Region Hasler Marathons, with paddlers drawn from eight clubs around the region and a few from further afield.
