New Jersey state lawmakers are now formally in line to get a 67% raise to their annual taxpayer-funded pay, while the next governor and a host of other officials will also see hikes, under a law Gov. Phil Murphy signed Tuesday. The Democratic-controlled state Legislature voted last week at the end of the last legislative session to give themselves and those officials the increases despite objections from several Republicans.
