German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has called for openness and compassion for Jews in Germany, as he told a gathering of Jews in Berlin that Jewish life is a given in the country. “We all have the task of making the right decision every single day: in favour of empathy, solidarity, an open ear and an open heart,” the Social Democrat (SPD) politician said on Saturday evening at the Jewish Community Day.
