Srinagar: : Senior Supreme Court advocate Kapil Sibal on Thursday demanded the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, which was downgraded to a Union Territory. Sibal, who argued for the reinstatement of Article 370 in court, remarked that “it was a constitutional misdemeanour to have reduced the state of J&K to a Union Territory.” In a message shared on his official X-handle, Sibal criticized the Supreme Court for not addressing this issue, calling it a “constitutional right of the people of J&K and emphasizing that it’s time to restore statehood.”
