German climate activist Anja Windl has been freed in Austria after serving a 42-day custodial sentence in lieu of a fine. The protest group Last Generation Alliance said the 27-year-old had left the police detention centre in Vienna on Tuesday with a fellow activist. The young women had taken part in sit-in blockades and other climate protests and had not complied with police requests to leave the gatherings.
