A mountain road connecting the Austrian provinces of Vorarlberg and Tyrol via the Arlberg pass in the Alps has been closed until at least Sunday afternoon after a severe storm caused landslides, local authorities said. Drivers attempting to travel between the provinces will now have to take a lengthy alternate route through the Lech Valley or through Bavaria in southern Germany. Normally, the Arlberg pass can be crossed by a tunnel through the mountain, but the tunnel is currently closed due to renovation work.
