Consultation has finally begun on plans for a pedestrian crossing for Hadham Road in Bishop’s Stortford. Campaigners have been lobbying for the safety measure for more than five years and are urging residents to back highways authority Hertfordshire County Council’s (HCC) proposal. Helen Fletcher started the fight for the crossing close to Maze Green Road to stop children running the gauntlet of cars and lorries on their way to schools including Bishop’s Stortford College, St Mary’s Catholic School and Northgate and Windhill21 primaries.
