Subfreezing temperatures are making for spectacular sights at the Great Falls in Paterson. Walkways, railings and benches by the 77-foot-high waterfall were freezing over on Wednesday, the second straight day of bitterly cold temperatures in the region. Mist from the Passaic River, flowing at higher levels than usual following last week’s rainstorm, is serving to enhance the ice — and the wintery feel. “It’s always creating new ice on the walking surfaces,” said Darren Boch, superintendent of Paterson Great Falls National Park.
