Austria’s disaster relief fund will expand from €300 million ($333 million) to €1 billion in the wake of this week’s flood catastrophe, Chancellor Karl Nehammer announced on Wednesday. Municipalities and private individuals can receive financial aid from this fund after natural disasters. Estimates of the flood damage are not yet available.
