The International Energy Agency (IEA) has found that the share of renewable energy in global electricity generation will surpass coal for the first time in 2025. A rapid increase in electricity generation from renewable energies could see their share of the global electricity supply rise from 30% in 2023 to 35% in 2025, the IEA said in Paris on Friday. The IEA report suggests global demand for electricity will also increase by around 4% this year compared to 2.5% in 2023.
