Experienced diplomat Baiba Braze was appointed Latvian foreign minister on Friday. The 57-year-old, who had been nominated by Prime Minister Evika Silina, was approved by a clear majority at a special session of parliament. She succeeds Krisjanis Karins, who resigned at the end of March due to a scandal over the alleged misuse of public funds for private flights.
