After the Peregrine capsule missed its target of a first commercial landing on the moon, the operating company Astrobotic said it lost contact with it as it re-entered Earth’s atmosphere. The US company said on X, formerly Twitter, it “lost telemetry” with the spacecraft at around 9:50 am on Friday (2050 GMT Thursday) over the South Pacific Ocean. Astrobotic said it “completed its controlled re-entry over open water” 14 minutes later. There has not yet been any independent confirmation of this.
