The order backlog among Germany’s manufacturers decreased in June for the the sixth month in a row, in another sign of the sluggish state of Europe’s biggest economy. The stock of industrial orders, in price-adjusted terms, fell 0.2% month-on-month and 6.2% compared to June 2023, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) said on Monday. Order backlogs fell in particular for the mechanical engineering and automotive sectors, declining month-on-month 0.9% and 0.7% respectively.
