LG Electronics is introducing the new Therma V R290 Monobloc air-to-water heat pumps (AWHP) with 7 and 9 kW capacities at IFA 2024 in Berlin from September 6 to 10.

The presentation follows the successful launch of the higher power models (12, 14, 16 kW) at last year’s IFA. The new Therma V boilers feature an improved compressor for greater efficiency and a sleeker design that blends in with the environment.

With the mandatory implementation of near-zero energy building standards across Europe, AWHP systems are becoming increasingly popular due to their ability to reduce carbon emissions and cope with energy supply instability.

For new buildings, medium and low power boilers are more suitable, making LG’s new 7 and 9 kW models ideal for the European market. In addition, LG is opening an Air Solution R&D center in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, to develop high-efficiency HVAC systems optimized for use in the various local climates of Europe.

High performance

Proactively responding to increasing fluorinated gas emission requirements and Europeans’ shift from traditional boilers to water heaters, LG uses the natural refrigerant R290 in its Therma V R290 monoblock. This gas has a global warming potential of 3, which is much lower than refrigerants commonly used in heating systems. e advanced solution with an A+++ energy rating reduces carbon emissions by 79% compared to conventional boilers by generating energy from air heat. Users who switch to Therma V can expect a significant increase in the energy efficiency of their homes.

The newest Therma V AWHP utilizes an advanced LG compressor to open up new levels of energy efficiency and performance in cold climates. A lower compression process location ensures more stable operation and lower energy bills, while the system delivers water outputs of up to 75℃ even when it is minus 15℃ outside.

Thanks to the all-new compressor, both AWHP models operate with a noise level of 49 dB(A) at 7 kW and 50 dB(A) at 9 kW. The LG Shaft Through design improves stability and reduces friction, thereby minimizing noise and vibration, especially during low-load operation. Additionally, upgraded biomimetic innovations contribute to the fan’s quiet operation.

More sleek design

The Therma V R290 monoblock has a sleek, single-fan design that blends seamlessly with a variety of home designs and building exteriors. The outer casing of the latest AWHP product from LG is made in a sleek black that goes well with any color, and the unit’s grille has a characteristic wave pattern and a discreet dark gray finish. The compact design allows the boiler to be installed under most windows without blocking the view, making it a practical and aesthetically pleasing addition to any home.

Smart and easy integration

LG’s new AWHPs are designed to integrate seamlessly with a variety of indoor units through simplified installation, increased flexibility, and customized options such as control, hydronic, and combination units to meet different installation conditions. The optimized design ensures more efficient, hassle-free setup, and the cloud-based building energy management system allows the installer or service partner to update the firmware remotely, saving time and effort. In addition, the new models offer simple and convenient control and monitoring of energy consumption with LG ThinQ, creating an integrated home energy platform with energy storage.

“The new LG Therma V R290 monoblock offers Europeans an expanded power range while delivering enhanced performance and user comfort,” said Liu Jae-chul, President of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution, “LG will continue to leverage its differentiated competitiveness in high-efficiency energy technology and key components to offer a product line tailored to regional needs.

Visitors to the trade fair can stop by the LG booth (Hall 18, Messe Berlin) from September 6 to 10 to learn about the company’s latest energy-efficient innovations for a better life.
