According to Iranian state media, air defences have been activated in several provinces of the country. State news agency IRNA also reported an explosion in the early hours of Friday in the central province of Isfahan. Israel had threatened a strike on Iran in retaliation for Iran’s unprecedented air attack on Israel at the weekend, which in turn was Tehran’s response to a suspected Israeli strike on the Iranian embassy compound in Damascus on April 1 which killed two generals, among others.
